Overview:

First off, congratulations are in order for Onataria, and Izayaki, for winning our New Year’s Resolution contest!  You’ve both won copies of How to Be a Game Character!  Check your messages on the forum!  Now, onto today’s actual post…

Geralt of Rivia.  The Witcher.  One of the most powerful Witchers, if we’re being technical here.  Geralt is a powerful fighter, an accomplished mage, skilled in alchemical potion usage, and generally an overall badass.  Geralt’s been recommended quite a few times, and hype is really starting to build for Wild Hunt, so I figured he’d be a great character to relaunch the blog on!  =D

An incredibly sturdy and dangerous combatant, Geralt definitely belong in the Fighter archetype.  Though extremely skilled with a sword, I felt with his extensive magic, alchemical, and tactical skills justified being one of the few weapon-users in the Monk class.  He transcends mere physical combat, and moves into the more intellectual domain that the Monks tend to dwell in.  Let’s take a closer look at The Witcher.

geraltworkout

Our first stop with Geralt will be The Witcher Workout.  Geralt has mutation-imbued super strength and speed.  While we won’t necessarily be able to hit the “super human” mark, we will aim, at least, for “elite.”  We’ll be going for a well-rounded workout, involving lots of functional strength, while maintaining mobility, range of motion, speed, and agility.  Geralt’s built, but he’s not HUGE, and we don’t want to be carrying around any more mass than we absolutely need to.

geraltskills

Next up will be The Skills of Geralt.  Geralt’s abilities are extensive, and we’re going to examine a good number of them.  First off will be his combat style.  Geralt is an incredibly skilled and deft swordsman, and we’ll be looking into similar styles to study.  Next up will be his mastery of alchemical concoctions and potions to boost his own abilities.  We’ll be dipping a bit into “Potions and Power-Ups” for that one, so if you’re interested in a little preview of the book, you’ll enjoy that!  Finally, we’re going to take a look at tracking skills.  You can’t kill a target you can’t find, so let’s see what this monster-slayer-for-hire does to find his mark.

geraltmind

Finally, the triumphant return of our psychological breakdowns, with The Mind of Geralt.  Geralt has not had an easy life, and his trials and tribulations have cultivated a very interesting personality.  He’s tough as nails, efficient, ruthless when he needs to be, and even occasionally compassionate.  We’ll take a peek into the mind of a Witcher, and see if we can survive the encounter.

I can’t tell you how excited I am to be writing regular updates again!  So glad to have you here!  Just a reminder, I’ll be doing written updates Monday and Thursday for now, so we’ll get our next Geralt post this Thursday, and then the final two next week.  The blog’s first official video post will be a week from this Saturday, but I may throw up my American Ninja Warrior audition video up this Saturday, just for the fun of it.  =P  I’ll see you all again on Thursday!  Until then, remember to live boldly, change the world, and continue to be awesome!

Another well written character breakdown! I see you use pictures within the posts now, rather than solely at the top. Keep up the good work, I’ll be waiting for the workouts.

    Maybe Next Week?
    Bayonetta?
Only if you played the game of course.

Ooooh, I think that’s actually the first Bayonetta request we’ve gotten! Hmmm…Good call. We’ll have Geralt here for two weeks since we’re at two posts a week right now, but you may be seeing her soon… Glad you like the pictures being added in, I’m trying to make posts a little less wall-of-text-y. Thanks for reading!

Hey Dan im pretty young and I need to get as strong as possible because Im on a basketball team and Im out of shape. Do you have anything that a 14 year old can do and it doesnt require any equipment? Thanks

Hello! I love this workout, but out of pure curiousness, how many calories does each set burn? As in level 1 strength, how much does the whole thing burn? I’m doing a tracking app and there’s no “pike push up” setting lol if you can help, thank you!!

    • DaRatmastah says:

That’s, unfortunately, very difficult to accurately calculate. Even programs that claim to give you calorie counts for exercises are really, at best, rough estimates. May I ask why you want to know?
