Overview:
Akande Ogundimu, the current Doomfist in the Overwatch universe, is a badass character if there ever was one. In addition to being a professional martial artist, he’s also acted as the CEO of his family’s multinational prosthetic corporation, and is the current leader of Talon. Big, strong, driven, and resourceful, Doomfist is a fierce combatant, and a serious threat to the peaceful world that Overwatch pursues.
“But Dan!” you say, “We’ve already covered two Overwatch characters (Zarya and Tracer!) Isn’t this a little unfair?”
Doomfist doesn’t care about fairness. You’re gonna get punched in the face with a badass four day series on strength, power, and the pursuit of better punching whether you like it or not. PREPARE YOURSELF!
With his size, strength, and overall ferocity, Doomfist is abolutely a Tank, and without a doubt belongs in the Juggernaut class. With The Doomfist Workout, we’re going to build size, strength, and all the muscles you need to deliver a knock out punch to a gorilla (sorry, Winston.) Weights, agility work, and foundational power are going to be the hallmarks of this workout.
The Fist of Talon will take a look at Akande’s combat talents as well as his out of combat skills. We’re going to talk about martial arts styles, as per our usual skills breakdown, but we’re also going to touch on aspects of self improvement, determination, and leadership. It takes skill and resourcefulness to head a multinational corporation an evil shadowy terrorist group (is there really that big a difference between the two, though?)
Rise Through Strength
“Those who fall will be forgotten. Those who rise up will be remembered forever.” Doomfist believes in strength above all else, both physical and mental strength. Strength developed and honed through hardship and difficulty is definitely something to be admired, and we’re going to take a look at that in our psychological analysis of the character. We’re also going to examine the inherent contradictions of Doomfist’s outlook and worldview, and how taking his beliefs to an extreme can actually lead to weakness.
